Bank of America ripped me off, and furthermore

Bank of America is ran by a bunch of thieves. i am an international student (f1 visa) so it is easier for me to rely on only one bank, and i was lured by bank of america's student checking account offer (no maintenance fee). they stole over $200 worth of overdraft fees. im not sure how much those crooks usually make, but for me, $200 is a lot (put yourself in the perspective of a 18 year old college student) the website is always misleading so that they can make more money off you. For example, say you spend $10, $10, $10, and $200 in this order, the website will post it the other way round, starting from biggest to smallest so if you have $200, you will incur 3 overdraft fees ($75). why don't they post the transactions in chronological order and not from biggest to smallest? even on the website, the transactions are 'pending' in the order you spend your money before it actually gets posted. also, it was a 20 hour flight to come from my country of origin, and no relatives live in the us, so i brought a bunch of cheques that were pre-written on the first of every month (my allowance). when my account balance was low, it took a ridiculously long time to have the funds available. for example, i had $3.02 at one point on the 1st and it took 20 days for the funds to become available. how the *** is a student supposed to live on 3 dollars for 3 weeks? well when i complained to the manager of the particular branch he kept on saying "well, this never happens to me" and "you are sorely mistaken". well, of course that "never happens" to him, he works at bank of america, he probably knows all the money scams the banks are involved. I had interned at a hotel, and one thing i learned is that customer service is essential for any kind of business. clearly, these guys had no customer service. well, here is a website for all you pissed off folks: http://www.occ.treas.gov you can file a complaint through this agency and it will go to the highest management of the bank, and they will refund you especially if they have been excessively unfair. i went back home for the summer holidays, and a month later, i received a letter signed by one of the highest management possible from the headquarters, saying sorry and that they have refunded those funds which is now sitting in my bank account. will i use bank of america again? no. especially not after even the south china morning post, a hong kong-based newspaper (20 hour flight) had to publicize that a significant portion of bank of america's 'profits' are from these so called 'overdraft fees'. if there was one company that has ever made me so pissed off, it would be bank of america.

As used to be a foreign student, I share your pain. As much as I agree with you that banks are thieves, there are many things you can do to avoid it.

For example, you can call the bank to check the balance, their online website must have a feature allows you to sort by date (I know chase does).

Also, once every 6 month, bank will forgive one late fee as a courtesy to their customers. But if you found yourself in a position being charged more than once on late fees every month, you are in need for a controlled spending, better money management and more often account balance checking.

Good luck with your school.

Bank of America Fees

I've had constant problems with BofA. Their methods of charging fees and the $35 overdraft fees should be illegal. I filed a complaint in the web sites below. I call and complain and they return part of what they purloin. I filed a complaint with the better business bureau and The Office of the Comptroller of Currency. below are their web sites where you file a complaint electronically. I also found this organization and filed a complaint with my congressman. everyone here should do the same. http://www.bbb.org/us/Find-Business-Reviews/ http://www.helpwithmybank.gov/complaints/index.html http://www.affil.org/

All of you are right. Go to your SENATORS and tell them you want banking laws changed and REGULATED.

Bank of America is lying to me, too, about a Charter Account I have. I've asked them to produce the papers and show me.

They can't do it. Contact your Senators!

Bank Of America in Dracut, Massachusetts - All BOA/Countrywide customers should stop paying these crooks

I say that all BOA/Countrywide homeowners that have not been help by modification that are eligible stop paying their mortgage payment and march to Washingto DC to demand from Obama that he hold them to the agreement they made for all of our tax payers money they have already received. What really ticks me off is BOA is getting away with extorting cheating and robbing Americans and our elected official are standing by and allowing this to happen. Totally disgusted. We should all protest against this bank and put them out of business for eternity... Let do it now

Bank Of America branch refuses to cash their own check

Bank Of America branch next to UNLV in Las Vegas refused to cash a BOFA "OFFICIAL CHECK" for $8.68 on 9/4/2009. The assistant manager insisted I provide my ATM card or SSN instead of my valid drivers license. I asked how I would cash this certified check if I were not a customer and I was told there would be a $6.00 fee. I took the check to another BOFA branch and presented it to the teller. When she asked if I was a customer I said no. She asked an associate for help, then took my drivers license and a finger print and cashed the check. I then questioned the manager at that branch and asked why they honored the check, but the other branch refused. Only BS answers did I get. So I had to go to 2 branches, make photocopies, to cash an "OFFICIAL BOFA CHECK". It seems the whim of the management dictate this banks policies. REALLY PATHETIC.

Bank Of America in Corpus Christi, Texas - How BofA lies to you and gets away with it with your Money

Here is how it works, first they Process your money of any transaction on Monday, on Tuesday they place the amount that was processed into Pending, than on following day they may or may not Post it to your account. Here is how they get you; Example: On Tuesday morning my checking account was Pending an overdrawn amount of $23.00 for a $26.00 purchase, so I went to the bank at 5:00 pm and deposited $25.00, my receipt said I had $2.00 available. Now my wife did not know we were overdrawn, so she made a credit card purchase at 2:00pm on the same day for $9.00. The next day on Wednesday I had a $35.00 overdraft for the $26.00, because when they Processed the $9.00 on Tuesday which reduced the avaible amount. So they lie to you in the Pending and they get you during the Process.

Bank Of America in Reston, Virginia - WOULD LIKE TO JOIN LWASUIT FOR STACKING

I have been with Bank of America a long time. One of my checking accounts was closed...because Bank of America was taking out for insurance I never signed up for and never resolved the problem or gave my money back. The bank has it down to an art...they know automatic deposits and the game of taking your money stays alive and functioning. When we had over one hundred in the savings there was no problem. I am sure Bank of American has made stacking into an art. Also, my realtives in Memphis all have closed thier accounts with Bank of America. When I made a visit to Chicago, to my amazement there were Bank of America's all over the south side...whereas prior there were no Bank of America's. That is frightining.

Bank of America also closed my Fathers bank account without any notification. They sent a letter(after requesting written documentation of reason) stating that my Father was a high risk, mind you my Father has been banking there for 15+ years.

Not only did they just close the account they also stated that all of his direct deposites would not be returned until they were sure there was no balance owed. His SSI check was never returned. Social Security is currently running an investigation. Bank of America also reported my Father to the ChexSystem.

He has never had any over drafts, NSF or anything like that.

I wish I knew how to get my Father help in this evil, heartless bank. While this investigation is going on we have to figure out how to pay for my Fathers' Parkinsons medication, because they haven't even released the money in his saving's account.

Bank Of America closed my account without any notification saying after a month of making deposit I was a high risk for this bank, then they will not give me my money back locking my account. How can I pursue a Law suit to this joke of Bank?, I don't think they will be long in business. SAn ANtonio, TX

Bank of America fees galore

Bank of America gets bailed by us and then they stick it to us. $10 non-Bank of America ATM fee. $35 overdraft fee. International Transaction fees. Then they raise all of the credit card interest rates over 20% when the prime rate is at the lowest in history. We have to stop catering to these corporations as they stick it to us. Power to the common man. Corporations do not run America people do. Let us stop the insanity and tell these banks to break up their monopolies or close their doors. we have the power to do this.

It is not news that there are hundreds of thousands of troubled homeowners in the country. It is not even news that the lenders refuse most who request help. But, are you aware of the fraudulent practices that the lenders are using to deny loan modifications? Here is...

You mentioned that your husband "takes home" $1300 a week. HAMP is based on gross income not take home.

Your house payment has to be over 31% of your gross income. The HAMP law isn't as helpful as everyone thinks it should be because we all live on our take home pay.

I don't work for BOA and my advise is free but NEVER, EVER make a mortgage loan on an ARM. Most people do this when rates are low and when they are there is only one way they can go.....up!

Stuck With Bank of America

I HATE BAC Home Loans! (Bank of America). Since the buyout of Countrywide BAC has been nothing but trouble and they have the absolute worst customer service. 1. I have been sending in partial payments due to unemployment. BAC does not "accept" these partial payments. Instead they took the partial payment, and applied it to the principal. When the end of the month came, they did not register a full payment because the other half was applied to the principal. Thus, I was marked as being past due on my account and reported to the credit reporting agencies. 2. The above reporting to the credit bureaus has ruined my credit score. Now other banks and credit card issuers are closing my accounts and/or reducing credit lines - hurting my score even more! BAC refuses to remove this negative item from my reports. 3. BAC Home Loans holds mailed-in check payments for the late fees. I mailed my check in on the 29th of the previous month. BAC has a 15 day period before a late fee. On the 16th I called because the check still had not cleared my bank. I was told that it was my "fault" for mailing in a payment and that there would be a $19.99 fee to pay over the phone to keep it from being late PLUS a $25.00 stop payment fee for the check I mailed. I refused. Two days later, on the 18th, the check cleared my bank. Tell me they weren't holding this for the fees! 4. Despite receiving over $20 B in federal TARP bailout funds, BAC Home Loans in NOT doing anything to help homeowners in trouble. The Making Homes Affordable program is a JOKE! I have called BAC over twenty times since I got laid off trying to get help with my mortgage. They will not do anything! In fact, they seem to keep adding more and more fees, and less and less service. I HATE being stuck with this lousy company that is BAC Home Mortgage but I cannot refinance right now (BAC made sure of that with the negative reporting incident). They are a HUGE ripoff and predatory lending company. I am waging a WAR ON BANK OF AMERICA. I refuse, absolutely refuse to pay their late fees anymore! It's your money America – Fight For It!

Indeed, twice in a row: 10 days, when regular mail takes 1 day to their office. Thanks for the suggestion of paying at a BA branch, will try it this time. Also got stuck with them, after it switched from Countrywide.

I just got BOA unfortunately they bought my mortgage. I found out you can go into a branch and pay for free and they will post the payment the same day as you go into the branch. They said to hold on to the receipt for proof in case of error in the posting date.

I mailed my mortgage payment on Aug 19. It's Sept 2 and they still haven't cashed my check and posted the payment.

I called BOA today and they told me to call back in another week to see if it posted. Why does it take three weeks to cash a check? I verified the payment address with them and they said it could take three weeks because I have a new account, which I don't understand because all my information is already in their computer system. I mailed my payment two weeks ahead of the due date.

I really think they are sitting on the check just so they can charge me a $100 late fee. I don't think so!
