Same thing happened to me, I opened an account with them and a month later I got a letter telling me they are closing my account. I had $70.00 in the account and they sent me a check for only $10.00 and claimed they took $60.00 out of my account for research purposes. Then told me to look at the very small print in the contract that gives them permission to do this whenever they seem fit but written in a way that is very unnoticeable as its basically just saying we can take money out of your account at any time for any reason cause we are thieves and we will call it research!!!

Rip off people!!! | Bank Of America review from Tampa, Florida

RIP OFF over draft fee, twice on same charge, money was in there while was pending. They quit sending my alerts and cost me over draft. They are all rude and I think they are all afraid of their jobs so they won't help you. Who cares who's name is on the account first, and how do they know who they are talking to online, HELLO, one person tell's you one thing and the next person tell's you something else. BIG RIP OFF. You would think the money was coming out of their pocket, hey it is, they may have to give up something.

Bank of America likes to play games with withdrawals vs deposits. I had $350 in the bank. I made an online payment of $435 and I deposited $100.00 to make sure the money was in the account, on the same day. BOA charged me two overdraft fees. One was basically them...

Bank of America is the worst bank in the world. The best thing I did was take my money out and put it in my local credit union. Bank of America charges huge overdraft fees and the customer service really sucks. I recommend you to check out Clark Howard's website...

I had two charges on july 14th , one for $1.50 and the other for three bucks, well on the 16th a charge went thru for 50 bucks so they pushed my two little charges up so there for I had to pay 2 overdraft charges , even though the two little charges where before the 50 dollar one.Bank of american said it doesn't matter since it's all in pending status they can pretty much do that! so now I am overdraft again because the overdraft charges put me out again, I know have to pay two more overdraft fees!!!!

That is where they get all lower and middle class consumers that live pay check to paycheck. oh and if you want a check book they charge you, they would like everything done online, that is how they get you!

What can I do? | Bank Of America review from Los Angeles, California

I have a small buisness that luckily is doing well in this economey. At the end of last year I spent 30 thoasand for debt paydown. This was instructed by a B of A represenitive. My goal was to get a larger line of credit so I could expand my company. Come to find out that once I payed down all 5 of my b of A accounts. That they reduced my credit limits to the remaining balance, to max out all accounts. Then charged me for over limit fees, and know my credit is impacted heavily (personal and buisness). When I call to ask why, the trick me into saying that i have a cash flow problem, and now I am cosiderd high risk! When from the beginning all I was doing was improving my credit! Bottom line is I spent 30 thoasand to get worse credit! Now the bank cosiders me a risk when I owe them 1/3 of what I did last year. I was always on time and still my rates also jumped up? Is ther any options for the abused customer?

CREDIT CarD companies ARE *** | Bank Of America review from Phoenix, Arizona

Advanta and Bank of America did the same thing to me that I have read about on this site. The only thing that good customers like myself can do is change cards and take a chance AGAIN or stop paying their current company. If all consumers stopped paying this month just think what would happen to these *** bags. This of course will ruin your credit causing your interest rate to increase but oh yea, it already has so what the f_ _ K! The goverment bails them out and then we get hit for more money twice. File complaints with the FTC, Banking Commission and you Congressman.

Fia and bank of america robbed at age 80, wont take an illegal charge off account

I am 80, and this insurance got put onto my credit card account. I never authorized this charge! They say my son put it on by pushing a button. They have no proof! I have called, and pleaded, and tried to get them to remove this rather large charge, but they refuse to do so. They will not credit the account, although I never requested this insurance. This is causing me a hard time financially, and I thought there was a class action suit a while back that made it illegal for them to add this insurance or not remove it. Are there any class action law suits?

Bank Of America Account

Bank of America ***!

Bank of America raised my interest rate from 11% to 28% because my account was a few dollars over the limit (due to their over the limit fee and short billing cycle) I called and talked with a service rep who removed the over the limit fee and restored my card back to the 11%. The following month when I made a $32.00 purchase,my rate shot up to 28% again. I called Bank of America who informed me that by using my card I activated an interest rate increase. I was confused! I was never told about this policy to increase my rate because I used my card. Notations on my account confirmed that I was never told that by using my card I would be subject to a rate increase. I was passed on to a higher up and that is where it got worse. The higher up put my complete balance of $10000.00 up to the higher interest rate, not just my new charge of $32.00. I always pay my bill ahead of time and was never late in paying. I requested that my account be closed and the customer DIS-service rep got *** and insisted that he was requesting that the card be closed out. For the record I requested the account to be closed. I pointed out that I was never informed of any rate increase which pissed him off so the customer rep put my complete balance at an interest rate of 21% (BIG SPORT!) I have written many letters to Bank of America only to get a form letter back which basically tells me to "get lost." Today I received a nasty letter from a customer care person in the Delaware office who put in writing that I better not send in any more requests to have my account put back to a lower rate and they will not correct the fact that I,the consumer requested that the account be closed. She wrote, and I quote,"Bank of America WILL NOT consider or answer any more letters from you." That's nice considering that my high interest rate is bailing out this bank so rude, obnoxious employees can retain their jobs. I hate this bank and they should be sanctioned for fleecing their customers.

Bank of America has been sued and class-action sued numerous times due to these very practices. It does not phase them. They just keep right on doing it.

Why don't you try dealing with RETARDED customers all day long and see how "rude and obnoxious" you become. I swear the general public is *** but Bank of America customers take it to another level.

I love it how people are so irresponsible with their own finances and then try and take out their frustrations on the financial institution that LENT them the money!! ***

I was just thinking quite often when they say these calls are monitored they very well might be recorded. I would get a lawyer to request any recordings of the call in question.

I would get a copy of your credit report to see what it actually says. Then I would start writing certified letters. If Bank of America won't correct the closing I would right the Federal Trade Commission- FTC and your local congress person. There is going to be credit card reform legislation so they can use this as more evidence that the credit card companies need REGULATING.

I might even considering taking legal action as well. I know someone who had trouble with a posting time on a phone payment and basically got the same treatment from their 1-800 no customer service line.
