Fia Credit Card Bank of America

I have been with Fia credit card GMAC mort which was purchased by Bank of America for over 2 years. I had 9% on balances. I have been paying a monthly payment around $300.00 dollars and in January, I had problems with a bank account FIA incresed my interest rate to 30% and wants me to pay a monthly payment of $1300.00. I paid $1200.00 and nothing went towards principle. I am getting phone calls that I am late and etc. when I paid $1200.00 and they held my money for 4 days before they posted it to my account. Oprah needs to investigate. Please inform me. What is the president doing about this. I am going to the attorney general and the fcc. Everyone out there do not deal with Fia (GMAC) or Bank of America.

Overdraft charge like crazy!

Ok, This Bank of America is the worst bank ever! In three days they charge me $140 in bank overdraft fee! for some reason a bank of america representative told me that starting 2008 they change their policies about clearing an amount and if you dont have that amount before it cleared you will be charge $35 per transaction even you owe only a penny. I have an incoming direct deposit that day but they cleared my transaction first before my DP then charge me $140. no consideration will closed account ASAP! CANNOT DEPEND ON HARDSHIP! WILL NOT GO BACK

Notify your Senators! That's what they are there for.

They regulate the banking industry.

Then ask that they change the banking laws. They've bankrupted the country and are operating like organized crime.

Guest

Yea Terry is right you idoits watch your money, through online banking or take your lazy impatient *** to the ATM to check your balance, call do something. Remember your bills if you work so hard for the money,THEN WORK HARD AT PROTECTING IT.

Yea Lisa ODP works but your still charged a transfer fee, that should be an emergency use only. How bout just monitor your spending, and it will monitor your actions. as for Terry yeah I'm tired of all this b i t chin about NSF every1 charges them I've shopped every bank TRUST ME. I had 3 NSF in my life and thats it I'm young and I know fire burns so don't get so close.

lol :grin. grow *** ppl that want 2 be babied, grow the *** up or don't write a check y a z z can't cash.ELEMENTARY LESSON :cry

Guest

Terry the banker,

Have you forgotten what customer service is or are you just so deeply involved with the banking system that your vision is impaired by $$. People use banks because they have been convinced that they need them.

Wake up people, you don't need banks they will only take your money. The problem is not that people are doing anything wrong they are just not doing it in a way that's acceptable to the banks. the banks have been changing their policies over the last few years to exploit the people that once trusted them. The system is designed to take advantage of every misstep that the customer makes.

Most honest people will gladly pay a fee if they are at fault.

Its easy to blame the customer when the system is designed to exploit them. Cash is still accepted everywhere, use it!!!

Guest

Terry is right on. Come people wake up and smell the coffee.

Don't spend it if you don't have it. I have a savings and checking with them.....get overdraft through your savings and you won't be charged a fee.

Guest

No, it's not all banks it's because Bank of America is the worse bank ever! It should not take 5 days for a cash deposit to clear into my checking account!

So if I spend it 3 days later yeah I kind of assume it's in my account especially when I go to the atm and it shows my balance. I go spend money and oh surprise a ton of overdraft fees. When my card got stolen and I canceled it and filed all the proper papers they took the charges off but left the overdraft fees because I didn't have the funds to cover it. Well of course I didn't my card was stolen and they didn't freeze it right away!!!

My old bank never did any of these things! If I put money in to my account it actually went right to my account. I only switched because my old bank isn't nation wide. I'm currently in the process of switching banks.

I'm in college I can't afford to wait a week for my paycheck or cash to clear.

I have to eat and with the overdraft fees I can't. Plus sometimes I don't even know they take it out so then I go over!

Guest

Whoa Harsh but never truer words have been spoken. Dont write a flippin check if the money isnt there to cover it. I think I learned that in the 2nd grade

Guest

Yet another Bank customer that does not get it.

The key here is to NOT write checks before the money is in the account.

You guys like to float loans to yourself hoping to beat the clearing house. TIP for you-It doesn't work anymore :(

BLAME your own ignorance. If the money was in your account, you would not get hit with fees.

ANY bank you deal with is the same way, and there is now a good chance that you can not go to another bank to open an account because of the way you mismanaged this one. Banks now put check bouncers like you in a data base and any time you go to open up a new account at another bank, guess what? Your name pops up as a person that bounces checks.

And we want to know why this country is in the condition it is now? It is because dummys have no clue how to manage money.

Bank of America ripped me off, and furthermore

Bank of America is ran by a bunch of thieves. i am an international student (f1 visa) so it is easier for me to rely on only one bank, and i was lured by bank of america's student checking account offer (no maintenance fee). they stole over $200 worth of overdraft fees. im not sure how much those crooks usually make, but for me, $200 is a lot (put yourself in the perspective of a 18 year old college student) the website is always misleading so that they can make more money off you. For example, say you spend $10, $10, $10, and $200 in this order, the website will post it the other way round, starting from biggest to smallest so if you have $200, you will incur 3 overdraft fees ($75). why don't they post the transactions in chronological order and not from biggest to smallest? even on the website, the transactions are 'pending' in the order you spend your money before it actually gets posted. also, it was a 20 hour flight to come from my country of origin, and no relatives live in the us, so i brought a bunch of cheques that were pre-written on the first of every month (my allowance). when my account balance was low, it took a ridiculously long time to have the funds available. for example, i had $3.02 at one point on the 1st and it took 20 days for the funds to become available. how the *** is a student supposed to live on 3 dollars for 3 weeks? well when i complained to the manager of the particular branch he kept on saying "well, this never happens to me" and "you are sorely mistaken". well, of course that "never happens" to him, he works at bank of america, he probably knows all the money scams the banks are involved. I had interned at a hotel, and one thing i learned is that customer service is essential for any kind of business. clearly, these guys had no customer service. well, here is a website for all you pissed off folks: http://www.occ.treas.gov you can file a complaint through this agency and it will go to the highest management of the bank, and they will refund you especially if they have been excessively unfair. i went back home for the summer holidays, and a month later, i received a letter signed by one of the highest management possible from the headquarters, saying sorry and that they have refunded those funds which is now sitting in my bank account. will i use bank of america again? no. especially not after even the south china morning post, a hong kong-based newspaper (20 hour flight) had to publicize that a significant portion of bank of america's 'profits' are from these so called 'overdraft fees'. if there was one company that has ever made me so pissed off, it would be bank of america.

As used to be a foreign student, I share your pain. As much as I agree with you that banks are thieves, there are many things you can do to avoid it.

For example, you can call the bank to check the balance, their online website must have a feature allows you to sort by date (I know chase does).

Also, once every 6 month, bank will forgive one late fee as a courtesy to their customers. But if you found yourself in a position being charged more than once on late fees every month, you are in need for a controlled spending, better money management and more often account balance checking.

Good luck with your school.

Bank of America ripped off son while in military

My son is heading to USMC boot camp and opened an account with BofA so I can use to cover his bills while gone. He opened with $100, then used ATM on 3/24 to buy gas and a sandwich (total $27.41). He learned 3/31 that they charged 2 overdrafts, charged a $888,888.88 withdrawal (???) and have closed his account. Didn't tell him until he did the research. Now, he's headed to boot camp on Sunday and his state and fed tax returns are to be deposited to this closed account. One more worry while in boot camp. A call to BofA - said they'd give him 30 seconds to state his issue. Are you kidding? Who does business like this?

Interest Going Up for the Ones That Pay on Time

Bank of America, like all the other banks are overcharging credit card holders that pay because of the people that can't pay, they are making us suffer for the people that can't pay which is totally wrong, i took my money out of the bank and opened another account at Regions, and if you don't like what they are doing, it is the only way to get them back, i will be loyal to you when you are loyal to me. If they get crazy with you, join the people that don't pay at and go bankruft, then they won't get anything, tear up the card and move on.

:( *** banks. They raise interest rates and decline refinancing just because they want people to default.

Guest

The credit card lobby keeps on spewing this regulation will make it less likely to loan at lower rates and yet without regulation they seem to be raising rates because they feel like.

Guest

why are rate is going up? that's the reason they gave, But the real reason is Obama, with the billions he released in aid to the banks(granted on behalf of Bush) put a moratorium on credit card raises in 2010.

So they (the C.E.O.s of said companys')can do it in 2009. If you think Obama or your political representatives are, watching out for the average american you are so wrong, they just want to line their pockets!

Online Payments

Beware if you pay bills on line with BofA. I have a credit card with a different company and have the payments set up for $50 autopay every month. There has not been a problem until now. I transferred $9,000 to my BofA Military Bank Account to payoff a couple of credit cards. Apparently since BofA did not want to let go of my money for a payment of almost $4,000, rather than sending my payment electronically like they normally do to that company, they mailed a check causing major delays in my payoff of my credid card, but they were sure to debit my account the day the check was mailed NOT cashed. When I questioned the payment not reaching the creditor after a week even though the system said it would be sent in 1 day, they said "the system decides how to best make the payment". They are getting really hard up. I will move everything I have with them for years now! they will no longer receive my business!

Bank of America credit card

the fraud department had put a hold on my account and when i called in i verify all the correct information put they wouldnt remove the hold.I was so aggravated i told them i would just pay the rest of my balance and close my account and they just said okay.the customer service at bank of america is really bad i dont suggest anyone open a bank acoount with them or credit card. I would think that during this economy they would serve customers with the highest service that is why they are losing customers and is one of the banks that are on its way down

So you really think you hurt them by closing your account? Trust me you didn't. In fact you actually saved them money by not having to keep you in their system anymore.

Liars through ommision

BofA purposely leaves out important information that has cost me money that they get to keep. Thet requires $400 just to start the refinance process of my mortgage. Sure it'll go toward the closing costs. I just received my preliminary loan papers. Guess what?! My monthly mortgage payments are going to be HIGHER!! They jacked up my escrow payments! I can't cancel because then they get to keep my $400. I've just been looking to lower my monthly mortgage payments so I can continue the obligation of my loan. THEY are interested in nickle and diming. In the end I may loose my home. This is the second time that they have purposely left out information that costs me money. Thanks BofA. I'm sure that deep down in the empty chasm of your chest you want these foreclosed properties. Well, TAKE IT, and ***!

Here's your help....stop spending money you don't have and you won't get overdraft fees. It's really quite simple

Guest

For the past 8 years we can thank the poor poor republicans for letting the banks run loose. i.e.

change in the bankruptcy laws where you may not be able to discharge credit card balances, no regulation on overdraft fees, etc.

All the housing help will prevent taking the homes in the Hamptons. More million dollar bonuses for the republican run businesses getting bail out money.

Good bye Bank of America

I have been a customer of Bank of America a long time.Never been late with a payment or have I missed any. Will borrow the money to pay account off if I have to.This new rate applies to balances that were on lower rates at the time purchases were made. This seems like a breech of contract on the part of Bank of America to increase the rate on a deal all-ready made. Thanks but no thanks! Good Bye Bank of America. This is one pissed off customer that will never use Bank of America again. I do not have to use your *** card any way!

I thought the whole bail out thing was to get companies to lend ie give credit and yet everything the credit card companies are doing seem to disuade customers from borrowing which is an essential part of the economy;buying on credit.

Guest

All the banks are raising rates. Then don't use your card. It's that simple

Visa Card autopay deducted in error: won't return money for 5-7 days.

I cancelled autopay when I paid off visa account - 3/3/09 - 3 wks later they take $500 'pmt' from me I asked for manager - was told she was busy and would contact me in the next 72 hrs. Rep was very snippy. As if I was the problem!!! Wonder what I can charge them for this assumption of my money to which they have no legal right? I have to get out of this awful institution. This isn't the first time they have done something fishy and gotten snippy (to put it mildly)! And there is no one else I can complain to. The bank won't handle visa complaints!

Bank of America poor service

Bank of America, is a inconsiderate trash bank! BoA is relentless in their Tele-a-marketer calls and ever sense they took over LaSalle Bank of Chicago, BoA service is ***! I personally recommend the Credit Unions, but thats me. You can find and join a local credit union just about anywhere. Better, friendly service, lower rates, and best of all the Credit Union is owned by you as a member! Bank of America also has a very poor security system by all the SPAM mail I've seen that is really bogus. If you sign up for a credit card, BoA will hound you with junk mail for life. Stay away from the Corporate greed of Bank of America. They are a Trash Bank!

Bank Of America Unauthorized electronic debit from my checking

Here is the letter I emailed them:

I have been a Bank of America customer now for over 3 years. So far I am very dissatisfied with your service. Most of your tactics are deceiving and seem to trap consumers.

Here is my #1 problem with this bank. I got a student credit card with you and used it irresponsibly and quickly went over the limit. At first I was paying on time then after a few months I stopped paying. About six months later bank of America put me on a 5 year payment plan to pay off the balance of my debt of $46 dollars a month to be paid on the 21st of each month. I went about 3 months with no problems then all of a sudden you stopped automatically withdrawing the payment out of my account. i called up and you advised me that I needed to reschedule my payment plan and that’s why you didn't debit the $46 out of my account that month.

I got a letter in the mail about 2 weeks prior saying that i need to reschedule the payments. I called the number and they said to never mind the letter that it wasn't necessary (which apparently wasn't true). So two weeks later when the payment wasn't made I got hit with late charges and fees. This did not seem fair I did everything I should have and I had to pay for a bank employee's mistake.

So after I once again rescheduled the payments 3 months later the same thing happened (this time with no warning letter) I got hit with late charges and needed to reschedule. Fed up and untrustworthy of this company I decided to call up and request a full statement outlining what my charges are and how they came up with my balance. They said they would send that in about may I would say. I still haven't received this or any other communication with bank of America.

Now on September 30th 2008 my checking account gets mysteriously debited $46 after not speaking with them for almost 5 months. I called and got the run around and gave up. Now on October 21st 2008 i get another charge for $46 so I called again today. I spoke to bank of America about the situation and they transferred me to a representative of FIA card services. She advised me that the reason these two debits came out of my account were because I called in and authorized them to do this on Sept. 30th 2008. I am 100% positive this never happened. i ask them to let me listen to a copy of the recording of me authorizing this and she said she will transfer me to the manager who can help me out with this. I was transferred and I got a voicemail, so i left a message explaining my situation. It is now two days later I have not received any response back from this manager or anyone. These practices are very wrong in my opinion and hopefully Illegal.

On a side note I asked them not to make any more debits from my account to pay this bill. They agreed and I asked them to send me written documentation verifying this and I was old this was impossible (she said they can’t send a letter verifying something that is not taking place) this makes no sense to me why can’t they send a letter saying 'no more electronic transactions will be debited from my account' So after I was told this I was asked for permission to record her saying that this will not occur, once again I was turned down. She also couldn't give me a straight answer of why the $46 was taken out of my account on different dates for the September and October payments.

My question is What are you going to do about this? I incurred a $35.00 overdraft free from this unauthorized transaction. Bank of America should not be allowed to steal money from their customers accounts and then give them the run around when the start asking questions. I’m so fed up at this point that I am going to send this problem to every organization that will listen. I have extensive experience in internet marketing and how to spread something across the internet. I’m not sure if you are aware but there are literally thousands of consumers’ complaints about your company all over the web. In addition many of these people are starting to inquiry about class action lawsuits against you as most of their situations are all eerily similar. After reading all of this I have no doubt in my mind that this is no coincidence and Bank Of America is intentionally trying to scam their customers out of money through any means possible ( questionable practices, downright fraud, and resorting to low measures to make a quick buck). Fortunately I work at a law firm that specializes in credit and consumer laws. I have no problem proceeding with legal remedies this has gone on too long and it’s time to take some action.

Bank of America - Unprofessional and Rude

We will be switching banks completely due to the rude and unprofessional service that we have repeatedly received at the Conshohocken branch on Fayette St. The employees are unwilling to explain the terms and conditions even when asked direct questions regarding accounts. They have continually mishandled our accounts, given us incorrect information, and refused to follow up on problems brought to their attention. They have resorted to name calling customers and yelling in front of other customers and have revealed incidents and information regarding our accounts to members of the local public while consuming alcohol at local establishments. Completely unprofessional, both inside and outside the office. Not the type of company or people that you want to have access to your financial information.
