I closed my account with BOA because I was moving to California. for the nest ten years my credit was sooooo bad and I wasn't savvy as to credit bureaus functions. regardless, boa reported me dead and buried to Equifax. for 10 years I had a credit score of ZERO and never new until a cable tv company refused me cable and I hired an accountant to figure out wtf. now I am told theyre only responsible for the last 3 months and the other 9 years and 9 months are just lost in space. thank you bank of America(great again) for destroying my life.

Worst Bank I have ever dealt with!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I get paid monthly at the job I'm at. I get weekly expense checks. I work where there isn't any Bank of Americas. I mobile deposit my checks and it seems every couple weeks they hold a check. I call and they usually drop the hold. I have automatic payments set up and last month I deposited my paycheck and they said it was available that day to cover checks and other transactions. They also said it would be available next day for cash withdrawal. I wake up and look at my account and they reversed the check and put a 12 day hold on it. I called the bank and was told they couldn't verify funds at that time so they put a hold on it. I was also told it was the largest check I've ever deposited so that's another reason. Well it wasn't the largest check I've deposited but they obviously cant look back in the account and get their facts straight. They say the same thing Everytime this happens. This time they wouldn't release the funds. It's a payroll check from the same company that I've been getting paid from. I've deposited over $20,000 in 3 months from this company. Never had any issues with any checks from them. So they just can't help me. Today I had my automatic payments come out and put me to a negative. They hit me with $325 I'm fees. I'm going to have to lose that money now. I've never had so many issues with depositing a payroll check and cant verify funds for 12 days. This is the absolute worse bank I've ever dealt with and o would advise everyone to find a different bank. As soon as this check clears I'm shutting the account down and going to another bank.

IRA death claim

My mother recently died and had an IRA account with BOA. When I was told that the proceeds could not be paid until her Will was probated I informed them the account was not payable to her estate, but to her children as named beneficiaries.

(The bank employee had no idea what I was talking about.) She finally told me I needed to go to a local "financial center" and discuss my problem. After waiting 2 hours at the local "financial center" I finally met with an employee who stated BOA could only find part of the change of beneficiary request my mother had made six years earlier. At that point they suggested the benefits be paid to the children they could find listed and let them settle up with those who could not be found. What kind of advice is this?

Have called several times to customer service and have waited 45 minutes or longer just to talk with someone. Totally no help! Today I have closed my deceased mother's accounts and plan to do no further business with BOA.

I am still waiting to find out what will be done with the proceeds from her IRA. STAY AWAY FROM BANK OF AMERICA!

So.....What are you going to do, whine on message boards about it, wait 2 hours and stomp your feet like a child or do what they said you must do? If the money is worth it to you, do the probate and move on with life or be back here months later still whining about it. Hopefully you pulled the money out before you closed the account or you are in for another surprise..

BOA doesn't desire senior customers who are on fixed income and pay their bills. They can't squeeze higher fees and charge higher interests, its better profit wise for them to cancel you in favor of other better vulnerable customers where they can have better profit margins and more predatory options. How else can they pay their top 5 execs $80 Million: > Brian Moynihan, CEO - $21 Million; > Thomas Montag, COO- $18.4 Million; > Paul Donofrio, CFO- $12 Million; > Terrence Laughlin, Vice Chair - $11 Million > Geoffrey Greener, Chief Risk Officer- $11.3 Million

My credit card was also cancelled with NO notice in Aug 2018. Paid all my bills on time, never had an overdue instance.

Bottomline, it's not about a good credit history, they made an internal assessment that they are not making (squeezing) enough money from you, me and others like us through high interests, numerous fees and penalties and worst no cheating schemes to "milk" more money from their credit card customers. Do business with Bank of America at your own risk and peril.....

fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! You have been warned!

Long time customer

A credit card customer since 1983 with a great credit rating and high income. When trying to use our credit card to purchase items and the card was declined I called Bank of America. It took 1 hour and half on the phone taking to 3 different departments to find out that our account had been closed for not updating information per Bank Of America request. We never received any written or verbal request for updating my husbands information, that Bank of America said they had mailed and left several phone messages to contact them. We then went through the process of trying to reopen the account, and was informed that the "terms and conditions" of our account was no longer available. All these years we have accepted all their new "terms and conditions" by keeping the credit card but our credit card account is closed without our knowledge or any notification and Bank of America even billed a $25.00 yearly fee which was paid with the account that had been closed. Bank of America has agreed to refund the $25.00 annual fee. Our conclusion is that they did not want us as a customer because we paid our statement in full and did not pay interest since their was no notification or requests from Bank of America. No one even offered us to open a new account. Beware customers!

" did not pay interest " Well duh..... If you aren't making them money beyond the fees they charge a vendor, you are useless to them.

Why would they want to have you sitting around since '83 making them little to nothing when they can either charge you a fee or close you down and move your limit to someone who will get them paid. This is business, not personal...No on cares how long you've been with someone these days.

It just doesn't matter.. Find another way to validate yourself and you'll be fine.

Bank of America is simply THE worst bank - I've sold my stock

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I made the mistake of thinking that Bank of America cares about Customer Service. They are wasting any money that they spend on marketing because their lousy service negates anything they have to say. I would NEVER recommend this bank to anyone and now I would actively tell people to avoid BOA like the plague. After being a customer with BOA for over 30 years, I thought it reasonable to deposit a large check from a major financial/investment institution (not Joe Shmoe) and have the funds available within 2-3 days. Instead, they tell me that they have the DISCRETION to take up to 10 days to credit the funds to my account so they can "verify" that the institution has the funds. TEN DAYS?!? From another MAJOR/well-known/US financial institution?!? To a known customer account with over 30 years of history?!? Is this 2018 or 1918?? I wish I could get that check back and deposit it to my account at a different bank. I'd have those funds by now. I have never regretted a banking relationship more. They have pretty much stolen my funds and put me in a situation where I won't be able to meet my obligations and I'll have to pay late fees because they have chosen, at their discretion and by their own choice, to not credit me my own funds for nearly 2 weeks. And when the funds do clear, it will be too late. But, oh, well, "it's their discretionary policy." To be clear, there is absolutely no reason to question the validity of the funding source, the validity of my account (again, 30+ years, same account #) or anything else. They are holding my money hostage because they can. And not having access to my money will likely cost me dearly in terms of reputation and a missed opportunity (Sad) (damages far beyond the actual funds involved here) and fees that I'll likely incur, as the funds were needed to meet financial commitments. I just got a flyer about opening a business account. Umm...NO!

Want to know where all your hard earned money is going? - BOA has faced $91.2 BILLION in legal fines and settlements since 2008.

- Bank of America fined $42 million by New York State for fraudulent 'masking' scheme. - Bank of America agreed to pay $66.6 M for class action lawsuit for extended overdrawn balance charges that violate National Bank Act’s usury limit. - Lawsuit filed against BOA pushing homeowners into foreclosure while it enriched itself off a federal mortgage-modification program. - Based on the website Violation Tracker, BOA penalty totaled since 2000 were $58,058,740,079 that included: Mortgage abuses- $27.9 B; Toxic Securities abuses- $23.1 B; Banking violation- $3.9 B;Investor protection violation- $859 M; Consumer Protection violation- $855 M; Securities issuance or trading violation- $597 M; Wage and hour violation- $$381 M; Price fixing or anti competitive practices- $137 M; Accounting fraud or deficiencies- $80M; and Fraud- $26 M.

NEED I SAY MORE? -Bank of America has had more complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau than any other American financial institution, according to a July report from Mother Jones magazine. -Consumers have lodged 20,512 complaints against BOA to the CFPB since Dec 2011, one of the worst track records of any bank, nearly 25% of ALL complaints even more than Wells Fargo (which is no small accomplishment). -BOA has for the past four years (2013) finished in the top three of Consumerist’s annual reader polls to nominate as the worst companies in America.

But yet: The CEO of Bank of America Brian Moynihan was compensated $20M in 2016. His compensation was 250 times his average worker. Bank of American was still able to make $26.3 M on political contributions (since 1989) and $37.9 M on lobbying (since 1998). Be aware of BOA's culture, banking practices, long fraudulent history and their customer care tactics especially if you are a “little guy”.

The classic powerful versus the powerless. Consumers be aware: Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Business account customer

I have been a customer of bank of america for over a year now and seems like every deposit I make gets a hold placed on it for 10 days. I lost a contract because of it and am a contractor and when i deposit customers checks for supplies and am supposed to start a job and cannot it makes me look bad. I would consider banking with someone else . Businesses are not a priority for them and its a shame that they can play with peoples money that way. I spend numerous hours on the phone with them and get absolutely no where. Someone stole our info from our debit card and used it to purchase 300+dollars from Nike 0nline.Nike refunded this money to our account although not being responsible for the fraud.while being contested by us through the bank the bank covered our loss as they should .ovver a month later after we thought all was done we get an email stating we are overdrawn 400+ dollars.we called the bank and they said they took back the amount that they payed to the account since Nike had refunded the money to us.on top of the money refunded was a 70 dollar overdraw charge.this was all done without any notification to us.Being on SSI we live on a limited income.now we have to pay the Bank of Thieves back money that they were responsible for in the first place. To all you people out there who bank with these Thieves do as we are doing closing our account and banking with a credit union. This is how these banks have millionaire executives by stealing from the people who bank with them .im also posting this on all my social media sites. -Firstly, suggest never using debit cards. Once the money is out of your control, there is little incentive by banks etc to help.

Its your money not theirs that’s lost and you have little leverage or empathy. Bank of thieves? You bet: - Just for 2018: In Jun 2018, Bank of America is accused of aiding a $102M Ponzi scheme. In Mar 2018, Bank of America agrees to pay a record $42 million penalty for “systematically” misleading clients about stock trades.

- Based on Forbes 2018 Banking Survey Bank of America ranked 10th as WORST bank with 8,069 complaints. Complaints include making loan payments, closing on mortgages, and problems with customers disputing fraudulent credit card payments-- Bank of America’s complaints are related to just downright terrible service. - According to Keefe, Bruyette and Woods, Bank of America leads all banks in fines since the banking crisis (2007) with $76 billion ($242 billion total of all banks). - Bank of America remains next to last in the banking industry ranking based on the Reputation Institute where the banking industry in general had the worst reputation among 11 industries.

- Per Consumer Affairs 440 ratings this year, Bank of America received an average 1.5 out of 5 rating. - Bank of America has had more complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau than any other American financial institution, according to a July report from Mother Jones magazine. - Consumers have lodged 20,512 complaints against BOA to the CFPB since Dec 2011, one of the worst track records of any bank, nearly 25% of ALL complaints even more than Wells Fargo. - Bank of America has for the past four years (2013) finished in the top three of Consumerist’s annual reader polls to nominate as the worst companies in America.

- Bank of American CEO Moynihan received a total compensation of $21.8 million in 2017, which included stock awards and health insurance benefits. That compared with $87,115 for the median BOA employee.

- As long as they are making profits, they could care less about your personal issues. Why are you are still with them?

Stop draft payment

Went to local branch to put a stop payment on two monthly drafts four days before each draft was scheduled to "hit" my account. Was charged $ 30 for each stop payment. ($60 total) On the date of each draft, four days later, both drafts "hit" and were charged against by checking account. After contacting Bank of America I was informed that the original request to stop each draft was entered incorrectly and I would be responsible for contacting each company that charged the drafts and attempt to get my money back. Oh yes, I was given back $ 30 of the original $60 charged. This is not the first time I have had problems with Bank of America. I plan to close my account and will not continue doing business with a bank who appears to care nothing about service to their customers.

Your absolutely right!! They are good at sending your call to somebody else and it's a entirely different story.

then they blame you so they can get more money from you. Then they say that they didn't t say that. They have no compassion for their customers.

Report them to the CEO there is an address on the internet. Then to the federal commission for unfair practice, I am going to do exactly that.

Brian,

I am going to change my tone to a professional manner in hopes that you will personally correspond or respond in a proper manner.I have definitely not receive the level of customer service I had expected from BANK OF AMERICA, because all of my accounts do not total over a million dollars! What is astounding to me is the fact that this is how you treat a PLATINUM PLUS level customer that falls into the 97% of the accounts that make up the BULK in banks ,such as Bank of Americana . A couple of weeks ago, I had two accounts compromised which I had emailed you several times, and never got a respond from you. Two days ago I had another account compromised, and I still did not hear from you to show that you even cared. Im letting you know that on Monday 8/20, I will be withdrawing my funds out of Bank of America.

Im supposed to be a Platinum Honors member and Merril Edge Client but treated like ***

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Their Merril Edge agent spent more time telling me his life story instead of closing a small account under my Merril Edge portfolio.

He also lied and told he I would receive $600 for my investments and I would have if he had set my account up correctly. He is a Merril guy for 10 years making over 100K. How could he made such a mistake.

I made an appointment with the branch manager. I went in to speak to the Branch manager about a few items and I was told I and not allowed to come into the branch at this time and if I they will get a cease and desist. I asked what that meant and what did I do. They said if I came back in they would serve me and then if I came in a gain they would call the police. They said one of their employees was under review.

I said what does that have to do with me. I was crying because they were treating me like I did something wrong. I asked the bank manager to address what I came in about the other man said my time was up. I told him he can't talk to me like that. He said yes he could and that he was calling security. I and 5,5 and 97 pounds and no threat. I am suppose to be the highest level customer. I called the 800 number they suggest I call the corp office in NC and the lady was telling me the manager didn't walk me out like a criminal but to protect me. I said from what. was my life in danger? was their a gun that he was protecting me from then she changed her tune and said he was possibly trying to protect me. I told her I had it. After my CD mature I am taking everything...My Merril edge business and everything else to a

another bank.

The bank manager could have easily said. We have a situation and an employee is under review and it would be very helpful if you could bank at another bank at this time but they way they did it was wrong I cried and cried and they made me feel so bad about myself and gave little answers.

The suck.
