Charged me a fee for paying mortgage ahead of time

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have had a 15 yr fixed mortgage with BOA for over 6 years now. My wife and I have paid very timely and sometimes pay ahead when we have the money. I paid my April mortgage payment on March 31 and when I got my April bank statement...surprise...they had charged me $30 as an "Expedited Payoff Service Fee." In other words, being a good customer and paying them before the payment is due triggers additional fees. So, now they have my April mortgage payment AND they want $30 more. I think they are depending on people being afraid of taking on a BIG BANK and just paying the fee. Not me, I'm going to my local branch tomorrow and close down all my other accounts and raise HOLY HE11.

I just found out about this fee myself after being charged twice for paying extra on my loan. This is something new that BOM is currently doing because I always pay a couple hundred extra every month ever since my loan was initiated back in 2013.

WHICH IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT!!!!! What if I didnt agree to your policy change?

Then what? YOU LOSERS OWE ME 60 dollars.

All the banks are doing this now. Banks like BB&T, BOA and others. They don't want you to pay off earlier then when you are suppose to.

Bank Of America Account Review

Went to the branch inside Pathmark in Ackerman ave, Clifton NJ and waited for 40 minutes to open an account. The associate knowing how long I've been waiting comes out and tells me they won't have time to open the account. Well guess what I'm never banking with Bank Of America.

Costs me more to Refinance than to keep my 6.75% Rate

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Every week I get two to three solicitations to "refinance" my mortgage. Unfortunately, the costs of refinancing make it not worthwhile to do so, as I have been making extra principal payments and in fact could pay the whole thing off. The same thing happens monthly when I walk my mortgage payment to my local bank. Apparently, this institution doesn't understand why it would *** me off to pay such a high rate when they have written off loans to those who didn't pay. Even if they were to offer me the lower rate they would still make $, considering they pay .01% on any type of savings. The only silver cloud is that I can deduct the interest on my tax return.

Received incorrect account information at two San Francisco branches

I have been a Bank of America customer since 1949 and have had up to three accounts at a time with the bank. Yesterday, March 19, 2015, I dropped by the Sunset Branch on Irving Street in San Francisco to get my checking account balance and was told by the teller that it was under $10. I knew that was not correct and questioned the teller again, but he gave me the same answer. Rather than argue I came home to check it on the computer, and yes, the correct amount was over $1,000. He had given me my Visa account debit balance, not my checking account balance. Later that afternoon I paid a second visit to the Diamond Heights Branch, also in San Francisco, to resolve a Visa card matter I had questioned approximately two weeks previously. My Visa card had expired on March 1, 2015, but the new card I was sent was totally different from my old one. With the old one I had been able to access the ATM, use it to charge purchases and to receive a statement for the debit balance once a month. The Personal Banker I was dealing with told me that the bank had never offered such a card and that now I would need TWO cards, one for the ATM and also a debit card. I told him that I had applied for a Cash Rewards card but that I was not sure that was what I needed. HE DID NOT FULLY EXPLAIN THE FEATURES OF THE CASH REWARDS CARD NOR DID HE CLEARLY ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. HE DID SUCCEED IN MAKING ME FEEL LIKE AN *** AND OBVIOUSLY JUST WISHED THAT I WOULD GO AWAY. Here's the heart of my complaint: When I questioned the benefit to me of the Cash Rewards card he told me it didn't matter because the account I had opened just a couple of weeks earlier had been closed, and all new applications would have to be submitted. I asked why, if that indeed had happened, the account could not simply be reopened, and he said it could not. I left in disgust and came home to resolve this matter by contacting Bank of America's Live Chat. The person on the other end of the line could not have been more helpful and in the end told me that the account had NOT been closed and to simply activate the card I had in my possession. It worked like a charm. It was a VERY BAD day for my relationship with Bank of America at the branch level, and it is easy to understand why the Bank gets the lowest ratings of any bank for Customer Service.

Charged for incorrect information provided by the BOA staff.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I just got charged $48 in my Saving Account for over limit transfer when the staff in BofA(HEAD QUARTER) informed me that I have unlimited free transfer between Saving and Checking account. He opened both saving and checking account for me so I asked the questions about transfer between 2 accounts. I called BofA and they were unable to waive the fee. They said sorry that the staff gave me the wrong info but the information of transfer limit was within the package they gave me. I chatted with BofA and looked at the answer. http://postimg.org/image/nrbl9crvp/ It was my fault not to read the package carefully and it was also my fault to trust BofA representative, esp at Head Quarter. I did not expected BofA staff to be that tricky on giving information. If i could turned back time then i would not have open account with BofA. Would advise others to consider other bank instead. This isn't the service minded bank that you would expected it to be.

I have boa and I transfer between my savings, checking and business accounts all the time and I have never ever been charged to do so. I have been charged in the regular checking and savings accounts if I do not have the amount that they clearly tell you to keep in each account which is between $5 and $12 fee on the months I don't have the balance that once again they did advice me of. Maybe everyone needs to read the information that was given to you upon opening the accounts.

B of A Credit card constantly blocks valid purchases! Fraud insanity ruins Customer experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have a ~ 800 credit score. I pay my bills. And I am a dual national, who constantly buys tickets in the UK for family trips . I tell B of A this every year. They are dummies ! There is no flag or tag for this in their system. So every year, I buy tickets online.. and as as soon I buy from two different airlines, but use my Alaska Airlines Card, their system blocks ALL transactions. Then you phone their call center. Wait minutes. Your airline purchase expires. They don't answer. Then you get through to some lady who gives you a bland " we apologize". But nothing changes. HORRIBLE experience. Ask for a Supervisor ? Wait longer. Ask for a VP ? We can't give you that. What a coward institution who doesn't expose their VP titles to real problems. Buying airline tickets with B of America, is a joke. Wells Fargo doesn't do this. Nor does Citi. But the problem is, Alaska have lined up with *** B of A! Hours wasted on the phone, to book a trip for 4 people to three countries, on different flights and different airlines, coming and going different days. B of A doesn't comprehend normal people do this kind of stuff !

The most horrible banking company I have ever dealt with.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
A year ago I changed my business there for needing to change the name. Recently I have had a lot of charge backs from my customers. Wondering why, I contacted Bank of America and they told me my old business name was still on there! After going to multiple banks to fix this( over a month time lapse here) they told me I should just close out my old account and reopen a new one. I did this and having it cause problems with the IRS and other issues the old business name still was one my new account! I have lost thousands of dollars from customers due to this problem! BOA gave me the charge backs and I sent them the proper documents to get this resolved. Hearing nothing back from them I called back to check on the status and they explained to me nothing could be done now. I had argued back and forth that this was not my fault and something needs to be done. Again no help. I asked them again what the name was stating on peoples bank statements, again was my old name still!!!!!Two weeks have passed going back and forth and still nothing has been resolved. Regarding the charge backs I was told by 3 different people they could be fixed then the last person I called said they could not. Also 3 representatives told me my company name would be changed within 24-48 hours and still nothing has been changed. My customers are still viewing there statements as my old company name and I have to go and explain this to them all so I do not receive more charge backs. This has made my company look really unprofessional and also skeptical to my customers. I finally called again and asked them what the status was on the name change the last rep that I spoke to apologized for the previous reps and said I needed a form to fill out and then my name would be changed! Why have I wasted all this time and energy and the information I had been given by not just 1 rep but by 3 that there was no document that I needed to fill out! Their unprofessional-ism and miscommunication has ruined my hole outlook on BOA. I have recently changed and gone with someone else smaller company but way more professional. BOA has wasted not only my time but my customers time and my money. Really angry with BOA and how they handle things ( which is not at all. ) I can not even fathom how they could not understand a simple task to change the name! 1 year has passed and still not solved and on top of it all instead of changing my name to my new company name they somehow merged my old name with my new name and messed it up even more! How can these people be so incompetent?

On April 02 2014 there were only 2 tellers out front to wait on customers. Location of bank was Columbia Dr. Decatur Ga.30032. I would like to know why there is only 2 tellers present especially around the beginning of the month. This is very poor customer service.

Sold my loan without notification and RUDE Customer service

When I took my mortgage out with BoA, I was told that my loan would not be sold off to another company. After 4 years (with no late payments) my loan was sold to a relatively unknown and very low rated mortgage company on April 02. I did not receive notification of this change or any instructions on how to make payment. I figured out about the change when I made several attempts to make my loan payment online (as I always have), and instead received a warning that my account didn't exist. When I called BoA, the Customer Service reps were incredibly RUDE, even though I was being patient, and I was transferred several times before I could finally get the name and number for the mortgage service company to which my loan was sold. I will NEVER do businees with BoA again, and I will be sure to spread the word.

Terrible Customer Service. Below Banking protocol knowledge

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
It took BoA 7 business days to do a wire transfer from my checking account. I had to get the TD Bank rep on the phone with BoA wire dept to complete this transfer. This Bank has got to be the worst with regards to customer service I have ever had the un pleasure experience do business. Let me start out by saying if you open a bank or checking account with them you WILL NOT be able to do a simple wire transfer. The transfer did not go through for 7 business days!!! My rep at TD Ameritrade told me this was par for the course with BoA. I should have canceled my account at this time; but I didnt. Now I find out that BoA deducted $100.00 from my account. The deduction was due to an error but this bank refuses to reimburse my funds. So now I am in the process of canceling my account. I would recommend anyone considering BoA to do more research and review the over 2000 complaints this Bank has piled up over the last few years.

Bank Of America - Debit Card Review from Webster, Massachusetts

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The new boa debit card my branch proudly issued to me last month was not accepted at any atm or vendor on my recent trip abroad. The branch manager knew I was travelling but failed to inform me that the chip in the card would not work outside the usa. I had placed a travel alert on my account in advance but that was not the issue. I had no access to cash for the entire trip. BOA phone service was all automated or not working during off usa business hours. On returning and hearing my complaint the boa manager took a week to get back to me saying that they were not sure what had happened. I closed my account, which I had opened in 1998.

Fee Charged Twice for Wire Transfer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I am an American living overseas and have made wire transfers several times. This is the first time that I encountered the following problem.

I made a wire transfer in the amount of approximately $652. I paid the bank here in Asia their fee in cash. Upon receiving the transfer, B of A deducted $18 for a fee. The deposit was then for approximately $634.

I was okay with that. But a couple of days later, I was assessed a second wire transfer fee of $16. Trying to deal with the bank's customer service is a nightmare. Although their online website clearly shows the two charges, the CS reps say that they see only one.

They do not even bother to look.

Obviously, this is a small amount. But if B of A is doing this (charging double) on every wire transfer, the amount they make in a year could be staggering.

I have the same issue. I don't understand why they're charging account holders twice and it is frustrating because these fees do add up. There was no intermediary bank and no currency conversion.

Guest

I was transferred $5000 USD for Switzerland to my B of A account. $4985 arrived.

On top of that the $15 wire transfer fee was charged. Who took my extra $15 without my consent?

Guest

I sent $4000 of US currency from Asia with outbound fees already paid at the local bank. BofA showed incoming transfer $3985, and a day later a wire transfer fee of $15.

The inbound wire transfer fee is $15, but who took the other $15? This is ridiculous!

Guest

I ve sended $1000 from Istanbul to ny both accounts are mine, bank from Istanbul charge nothing , When money arrive to BofA I see $970 and BofA charge $16. They’re saying $16 for international transfers in usd currency .

It’s ok .

But who cut another $30 ? P

Guest

they are still doing this i see! secret $18 taken and charged another wire transfer fee....

Guest

The same thing just happened to me. First they took $15 out of the wire (I already payed the equivalent of $30 in the foreign currency to wire). Then they assessed a second $15 charge.

Guest

Yes, they charged twice since there was a "middle bank" charge transaction.

Guest

Double dipping, yes they do. Two transfers from Spain and they took $25 from each one "Deducted from payment" it says on the Wire Transfer Advice they mailed to me.

The only thing you see in online banking is the OTHER $16 they charge. Total fees per transaction: $41.

Wire transfer fees like this are just highway robbery. Wire transfer fees used to be because they had to convert currencies.

These days a smart phone or a laptop can do that.

Their computers can do it with about .000001 % cpu usage. No human has to count out change and convert it.

Guest

I have had the same issue with BOA on double charging. I get $35 taken off my initial wired sum before it reaches my branch in Florida.

The Florida branch of BOA deducts an additional $16 for the same transfer. I make 15 transfers a year from my UK bank to my US bank. I have tried to resolve the matter with no success to date BOA International wire transfer division are trying to avoid responsibility.

Tried on line chat and visited my local branch. I cannot believe they can get away with this rip off
