Verified ReviewerBank of America
If you don't already have a relationship with Bank of America, I strongly recommend that you not initiate one.
I have been a customer for more than three years. It was a huge hassle changing banks for my personal and business account.
I don't want to endure that again, so I am kind of glued to Bank of America.
However, if I had known how poor they are in so many regards, I never would have switched to this bank.
Their technology -- website and mobile -- is horrible. Technology is my business, and I have been involved in designing and testing computer systems for nearly 50 years. Whoever is in charge of Bank of America's customer user experience (UX) should be fired for cause.
Their corporate structure is divided into teams which support business customers and teams which support individual customers. If you have your own business and have your business and individual accounts at this bank, you are likely to experience all sort of problem.
Those problems begin with getting conflicting information from the banks two teams.
One team will tell you one thing to do. The other team will give you conflicting instructions.
I ended up with FIVE usernames to log into one or both of my two (2) accounts. FIVE (5) logins for TWO (2) accounts. This was how they told me to meet my needs.
On December 27, after about two hours on the phone -- including lengthy wait times during multiple transfer -- the last person told me that I only needed one login to meet all of my needs.
That person deleted the four (4) logins which (I was told) were unnecessary and causing problems.
Today, January 2, it was clear that person was clueless. I spoke with four (4) different people over the course of two hours. That is two hours that I am not making any money. One person had a solution.
He wanted to add back one of the deleted logins! That did not work. So, I was transferred again -- another long wait -- and that person said that I needed to add back another of the deleted logins and remove the login that the first person resurrected!
I think that things MAY be sorted out now. However, it is clear that the "associates" you speak to at Bank of America are very poorly trained.
Today, when I told a supervisor on the individual support team about the series of problem I have had over the past week -- including three and a half hours on the phone -- he said that he can deal with training issues on his end (individual accounts), but he has no access to do anything about the business support team.
This is why Bank of America is horrible.
There appears to be no mechanism that exists, that their employees are aware of, or that their employees are willing to use to make sure that their employees are coached and retrained when they screw up.
So, at Bank of America, there is no way that the individual account team and the business account team can work to make sure that both teams are well trained and do not waste customers' time.
I am sending a copy of this to the CEO of Bank of America. My guess is that I will not get a meaningful response.
I am confident that they will not reimburse me for 3.5 hours of my time wasted due to their organizational problem or the inappropriate actions which their poorly-trained staff took.
Again, if you don't already have a relationship with Bank of America, avoid one just as you would avoid a serious communicable disease. There are better choices.
- Nationwide
- Unlikely to fail
- Horrible customer service
- Long wait times on hold
- Poor technology
Preferred solution: Reimbursement for 3.5 hours of my time wasted due to the incompetence of many of their employees
User's recommendation: Avoid Bank of America

Verified Reviewer | Antioch, CaliforniaNever reimbursed for service I never received
I accidentally signed up for the wrong diet site, I was billed for 4 different payments. I received only three of the charges and to this day I have called over four times about this 19.95 charge and still get a different answer every time.
I went to Chase Bank and informed them of these transactions and that I was having problems with Bank of America. They informed me if you did not receive the services you paid for it definitely should be reimbursed to you. After today, I am writing off the $19.95 and decided to tell the world about the worst bank in it, is, with out a doubt, Bank of America.
Do not trust this bank. They will lose your money and they are rude to all of their customers.
- No pros
- Incompetent
- Inconsistent and unable to be professional
Preferred solution: Apology

They simply do not care. All they care about is working with your money.
Bofa has customer service that is shamefully disgraceful.
- Zero concern for customers
Preferred solution: customer service. answer the telephone calls or return calls when promised

Verified Reviewer | New York, New YorkWhy in the heck won't they let me log in on their app/website?
No customer service whatsoever. Calling simply gives you the latest message on hold excuse, "Our call volume is higher than normal, and as such you may have to wait a longer amount of time on hold."Isn't it funny that you get the same message no matter where you call now?
Using an iPad, iPhone, Android phone, and a MacBook; I cannot log in to Bank of America. Sign in automatically takes you to a screen to reset your password.
I KNOW my username. I KNOW my password. I am prompted with every attempt to enter the last 6 numbers of my account and my social.
This does not alleviate the situation. I am more than just a pissed consumer.
- What is the point of an app if customers cannot login
- No customer service unless you enter a branch
- Nobody to talk to 4 help
Preferred solution: Fix the website!
User's recommendation: Go elsewhere. This certainly is not worth the headache.

One long run-on sentence! No punctuation, no sentence structure!
You're in the "mist", right?
Have your child write for you. Another case of IQ which varies by room temperature
Closing that credit card was stupid. It will hurt your credit.
As for the dispute, you deserve to have your bank account closed. You are everything that is wrong with people today.
Filing a dispute should only be for unauthorized or fraudulent claims. Your case was neither.
That must be because of being "in the mist"!
They heard you out, gave you a provisional credit and then when the wrapped up the investigation, they said no and took the money back. If you have beef, it's with the people who sold something you claim broke the kid's nose.
Sue them and stop trying to get the bank to fight for you. As you can see, you're not worth their time.
that what I AM IN THE MIST OF DOING WITH MY ATTORNEY
You wasted your time by not posting details of the incident and supposed injury.
