Acknowledged lack of customer support for mobile app

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bank Of America - Acknowledged lack of customer support for mobile app

For several months, the Bank of America app on my iPhone has shown a small red circle in the upper right-hand corner. The red circle has the number '3' inside it. On any other app with a red circle with a number in that location, it means that there is a message or notification waiting for me. For months, I have tried to see if Bank of America has a message for me. There are none.

I have called Bank of America support. The people I speak with are poorly trained. They do not listen. When I report this, they confirm what I have already told them: There are no messages waiting for me. Today, I decided to push this to resolution. I called, was put on hold for 20 minutes. Their recording — AS ALWAYS — said that they are receiving more calls than usual. That, of course, is a lie. A company cannot constantly be receiving more calls than usual all the time. It is a lie because the FACT is that they are understaffed for the typical number of calls they receive, and Bank of America's customers are subject to long wait times because Bank of America is understaffed. Apparently, this bank prefers to lie rather than tell the truth.

On my first call, after waiting 20 minutes, I reported the problem succinctly as I did above. There is a red circle showing three pending messages or alerts, but there are no pending messages or alerts. The person I spoke with told me that she could see no pending alerts — repeating what I had already told her. I asked her why the icon to open the iPhone app showed three pending messages. Her response was to repeat that there were no pending messages. Repeating that did nothing to answer my question.

The question is important because it is important to know when a message or alert is waiting to be read. The false number in the red circle (3) has been showing for many months. So, I have wasted my time logging in to make sure whether there is a new message. That, of course, is a waste of my time. It is like the story of the little boy who cried 'wolf.' Eventually, people start to realize that the boy cannot be trusted.

When the person who kept repeating what I had already told her was clearly not going to provide assistance, I politely asked her to escalate the call to a supervisor. She agreed to do so, and I was immediately disconnected. So much for customer service.

I called back. I explained what had happened, and I requested escalation to a supervisor. I was promptly connected to a supervisor who identified herself as Jasmine in South Carolina (employee ID 9W6TC). Jasmine was equally unhelpful.

I explained the situation. I asked her specifically what the little red circle with the number 3 in the upper right-hand corner of the Bank of America app icon was supposed to mean. Jasmine did not know.

Bank of America has about 212,000 employees, and apparently, there is no one I can speak to for the purpose of reporting that their app — a tool they provide to (supposedly) support their customers and save them money in the process — is broken.

There is no one whom a customer can speak with to confirm that the little red circle is supposed to identify unread messages or alerts. There is no one to provide this level of technical support to Bank of America customers. So, I am posting this here, and I am sending a copy to Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan. Perhaps someone at that company gives a damn and will make sure that customer support deficiencies are addressed.

However, she was quick to say that I had no pending messages or alerts. I agreed with her. She actually repeated that multiple times during the call. I asked her to stop repeating what we had both agreed to be true.

She asked whether I had uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I confirmed that I had, in fact, wasted my time doing so. I told her that it did not fix the problem. Then I asked Jasmine to please transfer me to someone who could tell me what the little red circle was supposed to mean. Jasmine said that there was no one to whom she could transfer me to answer that question. Really?

The phone app is supposed to provide customer service and, in the process, save Bank of America money through automation. In fact, it is dysfunctional, it wastes customers' time, and Bank of America does not provide decent support for customers who encounter problems with the app that saves shareholders money.

This app provides customer 'service' in the same sense that a bull provides a cow with 'service.' If Bank of America gave a damn about providing true customer service, when a problem arises with their app, they would have staff to whom a customer could speak.

According to Jasmine, such people do not exist. So, my advice to potential new Bank of America customers is to find another bank — one that has people available who are eager to learn of inevitable technology problems and equally eager to fix them.

Bank of America does not provide such people.

You're not very bright obviously. I just looked at my Bank of America app and had the same thing.

When I clicked on the circle with the 3 in it, it took me to the Erica feature, which had three insights to show me. Dude, get a life!

Delete the app....Move your money to another account. Close this account and move on with your lame and pathetic life.

It's really not that hard. And you wonder why you're not well liked...

Wow this is a lot of drama. Hope your life gets better.

Bank Of America - Horrible, unethical, fraudulent company
Bank Of America - Horrible, unethical, fraudulent company - Image 2

My husband and I signed up for a credit card on the Bank of America website for 60,000 miles if you spend $3,000. We spent $3,000 within 45 days, and they denied our points.

On May 23, 2024, we received a letter, and they said we were short $11.61 (because they added a $95 fee in there, and we were not aware that it didn't count) they denied our points. Then Susan S emailed us and told me that she sent us the promotion by mail. She lied. My husband and I opened the mail together and didn't have the promotion in there.

So we closed out ALL of our Bank of America credit cards due to their fraudulent activities and the lack of honesty and horrible customer service by calling us liars. They are the liars; we got another letter dated June 21, 2024. This time they said they refused our points because the account was closed, so the mile rewards were forfeited. They had a lawsuit against them last year for doing the same thing—refusing bonuses.

I don't want anyone else to be their next victims.

Horrible company! Don't trust them at all; they do not have your back like other credit card companies do!!!

Bank Of America - No customer service / claiming a good check might be bad

My spouse passed away. I deposited the valid life insurance benefit I received.

Receipt said they had info that it may be returned and will hold it for 7 days.

This bank HAS NO SUCH INFORMATION because this check is good!!! Then, instead of saying no one is there at night, you will be on hold for hours waiting to talk to a CSR that isn't even there until you hang up.

LOL...How do I say I'm old and out of touch without saying it? Of course, no one is there at night.

That doesn't mean the computers aren't working. So, a few days later, you jumped the gun, and the check cleared.

Old people. Can't live with them can't get rid of them

ATM did not dispense cash. Bank waiting 15 days to credit me

Bank Of America - ATM did not dispense cash. Bank waiting 15 days to credit me

I made an ATM $600 withdrawal on July 3, 7:30 AM. The machine gave me my card, debited my account, but did not dispense any cash.

I immediately called the number on machine, but they are not available until 9:00 AM

I called the 800 bank number but had to wait until 8:00 AM. Now 7 days later they say I need to wait until July 18 and they will temporarily credit me the $600 while they continue the investigation. WELL SEE??

Im out the $600 for now. Imagine I really needed my money for something important ??

It is 2024.

How long to check the ATM? Imagine I shorted a deposit.

I bet they would act immediately. I am very upset.

Assistance for credit card dispute

Balance due showing on my credit report that I suspect was a card my ex husband must have had. He is deceased and I had no cards with him.

Charge was made in early 2000s and I was not married to him at the time. Why a card without my name has been associated to me I have no idea.

I am trying to get to the bottom of this to have this charge balance due removed from my name as it is definitely not a charge I made. I wouldn't have any idea of his account number with this bank.

Release of funds

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I deposited an insurance check from Travelers Insurance into my BOA account. I knew a hold would be placed on the check.

I didn't know BOA's new policy was to starve me until the 'funds were verified'. I received .0001% of my funds; minuscule compared to the actual check. My truck broke down OTW home and cost me the entire advance I received. I called four times today without success.

I have no money, no food, and will be homeless before the hold is removed from my funds. Thank you, Brian, CEO of BOA, for killing me.

Do not open an account with Bank of America, they are horrible.

So I purchased some bitcoin mining App on google play, The app kept quitting (I purchased a 12 month subscription), Which I assumed would run for twelve months, And supposedly I purchased it on sale, instead of 1200it ended up being 363.36, I also purchased a couple little packages under a hundred dollars. Those quit working also.

Now they all show expired, so they don't even run anymore And that was only after like a week or two. They're supposed to have 24/7 Customer service yet I have to email them through their site. And they don't get back to me for days. So assume and believe it to be a scam, Not to mention the fact that when it was working.

There's no way. I was ever gonna recover the money that I spent even at the sale price. So falty advertising, Bad apps, Wanna email the company. They said that things weren't working because of hackers and something else that wasn't good..

So I wanted to refund. And I asked for this refund like two days after purchase. Will bank of america since I couldn't get a hold of the crypto place, I initiated a charge back in which they denied a originally. A couple days ago didn't really give me a good reason and It already shows me funder that Google Play.

But they say my financial institute denied Processing the refund. So you would think that Bank of America would have a message center that you can communicate with them on. But they don't for businesses So I have to pay for faxes to go to them, And it's taking forever as a small business. I need that those funds to operate.

I've never had a bank. Take this long for charge back and refuse to give temporary credit.

For my money they took on my account

Original review updated Apr 29, 2024

We opened a new business account on 4-18-24 at 110 E John Carpenter Fwy Irving, Texas. The banking agents were so nice and helpful, they made us feel at home immediately.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, It was the back office who denied us contract thus violating our right to conduct lawful business. We found out when we tried to use our new debit cards, and discovered the new account was frozen on 18th. There was no notice or explanation. Called the same day, to customer service and told the cash deposited would be mailed by check to business location.

Then followed up on 22nd and told could not verify who we were and to come into office to pick up funds. Arrived at financial center and told could not pick up funds. Also that new account would not be closed until 23rd. Banking agent connected us to closure department over the phone and told they would only send check even though B of A deposit agreement allowed for pick up of funds if they closed account.

During the exchange We were talked down to and laughed at and given false names such as "Daniel Torres" whom does not exist.

So far We have had to wait for 17 days and this put us out because it was our funds necessary for travel.

This caused us emotional distress and financial elder abuse. We have been delayed without explanation, victims of identity theft and this has caused us time and money (hotel accomodations etc.) amounting to 1000 dollars per day because our business has been put on hold until we reach our point of origination, California.

4/18 to 4/29 is 11 days. Not 17.

Your whole story sounds shady.

The Treasury Dept has a separate branch that requires banks to obtain and verify information. Something was obviously flagged.

You must work for them and in need of brownie points. Whatever reason that determined closure is their perogative at this point.

Our issue was mainly with contract B of A deposit agreement. Upon closure the first option was the bank could have held the funds for pick up. But instead they chose to send a check fifteen days later, probably to gain interest on it. Pretty shady business.

I flag them because they are going out of business anyway for failing to comply with Basel 3 banking protocols. Go figure.

After phone number was changed, I could not get into my bank account when locking and unlocking my card 4 weeks

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had to change your phone number. Since my SIM card had been swapped, I was locking and unlocking my debit card for safety.

I called B of A to give them my change of phone number, then locked my card. I am a 71-year-old senior, suffer from PTSD and depression, and most importantly, had suffered two severe falls in one year, so I depended on Uber and Lyft in addition to my medical rides. In March 2024, I was several miles from home and found myself stranded because my card was locked and could not be unlocked after hours on the phone with customer service. I explained that I was stranded and was afraid to take public transportation because of my health.

Nothing I said compelled them to unlock my card. I took the train and two buses to get home. I was terrified. It was late evening.

I got off at Universal, the wrong stop. I was crying, and cold, and very upset that I had no access to my money.

Three weeks later, a woman younger than I was, was stabbed and killed at the very Universal stop that I got off at. This incident has left me so stressed that I will no longer get on trains or buses.

What a Scam!!! They refuse to give us our 60,000 bonus Alaskan Airlines Miles

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I got my husband to get us an Alaskan Airlines credit card that gives you 60,000 miles if you spend $3000.00 or more. We spent about $3100.00, and they refused to give us our 60,000 miles because they said the promotion expired about 10 days prior and we were $15.00 short.

We paid Bank of America over $3,000 for our bills. Actually, we spent over $3100 in approximately 3 months. They were dishonest from the start – they never sent us information about how to get our 60,000 miles. We just had to spend as we could.

They sent us information about the interest rate and such, but just left out how to get our 60,000 miles. What a scam. My husband got an email from Terrye Williams in the Corporate Complaint Department at Bank of America. I called her four times, emailed her at least three times, and my husband emailed her once telling her to talk to me and help me.

She ignored every single attempt for us to reach her. We called/emailed her for help eight times, and she simply discriminated against us and ignored us. Absolutely no one at Bank of America will help do the honest thing and give us our points that we earned — they just used us to get them money for charging things on their credit card. We're so disappointed – DO NOT USE BANK OF AMERICA.

If you want a good credit card, American Express, Capital One, Discover, Chase, and Wells Fargo are honest credit cards. I'll never use Bank of America again.

It's a fraudulent company – they make promises and don't provide the details. Terrible people.
