Bank Of America - Checking Account Review from Lewisville, Texas

2.5
Details
I tried to cancel my extra checking account and my savings account because the monthly fees were really adding up. The customer service agent handling my phone call was extremely snooty, high handed and rude. I called again that same day and experienced an amazing associate who helped me immediately. However, that evening I discovered the first associate had cancelled my debit card associated with the account I had all my money in. I began the process of calling and trying to get it reactivated. After waiting for 30 minutes and talking on the phone with three people they told me they would express me a new card. How do I get money in the meantime? Visit a banking center, of course. Unfortunately, I drove to three separate locations and all closed at 4 p.m. What kind of bank closes before business hours Monday-Thursday? Hiring agents that use sensitive personal information to carry out vendettas based on any perceived slight over the phone is what I consider an irresponsible business practice. Guess I'm SOL.

Reason of review
Poor customer service
First, I want to start with I have been a LOYAL Bank of America customer for 4+ years, even after I started working for another bank. I have two separate checking accounts both with direct deposit, a savings account, that is linked to both checking accounts for over...

I have been a BOA customer for 19 years, and I never have overdrafts or fees. I know every detail there is to know about my accounts and how they work, and yes, I also have 3: one personal checking, one savings and one business.

When you open an account you are supplied with the written terms for that account. Why get an account that requires a daily balance when you know you can not accommodate that daily balance then come here and complain about the fee you were told up front you would get?

Bank Of America in Dallas, Texas - Removed money from checking with no notice

My husband and I were separating. We had a Bank of America account. I opened a new account. I didn't remove my SSN from our joint account, but removed my name. They took out his overdrafts from my account. I didn't dispute their right to do this. I asked them why they didn't tell me they were going to do this, because several checks bounced. They said they didn't tell me because they didn't have to. The law didn't require it, so why should they. The rep and her manager both told me this. They were both rude and acted like I was studpid to ask for this consideration. I could not believe how rude they were.

Sick of Bank of America

After being a loyal customer for years, Bank of America has started to charge me fees by refusing to deposit my funds so that I not only become overdrawn, but they also change me an extended overdraft fee! This is the second time in a row and I am fed up. It has been amost two days since my deposit and they are STILL waiting to process my deposit! I even transferred funds from my saving to my checking account and that hasn't been approved! What thieves! They don't deserve government handouts if they treat customers this way!

Bank Of America in Corpus Christi, Texas - How BofA lies to you and gets away with it with your Money

Here is how it works, first they Process your money of any transaction on Monday, on Tuesday they place the amount that was processed into Pending, than on following day they may or may not Post it to your account. Here is how they get you; Example: On Tuesday morning my checking account was Pending an overdrawn amount of $23.00 for a $26.00 purchase, so I went to the bank at 5:00 pm and deposited $25.00, my receipt said I had $2.00 available. Now my wife did not know we were overdrawn, so she made a credit card purchase at 2:00pm on the same day for $9.00. The next day on Wednesday I had a $35.00 overdraft for the $26.00, because when they Processed the $9.00 on Tuesday which reduced the avaible amount. So they lie to you in the Pending and they get you during the Process.

Bank of America - NSF Fees

Over the weekend I went to see my mother who is teminally ill...of course I used my checkcard. When I got home on Monday I made a payment to my credit card. I started the weekend with $846.03 and I am now $470.90 in the red. What has happened is over the weekend I used my checkcard 15 times. The bank posted my credit card payment on Monday and then instead of posting the transactions by date they posted all 15 of my checkcard transactions by the date they posted them to my account. So I was hit with 10 $35 NSF fees. Now they have the ability to go back and charge when you over spend and then deposit however they say there is nothing they can do on this. So what they have done is create a system that only benefits them. This is the same bank that toom millions in government bail out money and then sent their executives to events spending thousands of those dollars. If you are thinking about using Bank of America - BEWARE!!!

Watch Out For Bank Of America Fees

We closed an account with Bank of America over 3 months ago, and were still being charged monthly fees. I called up there and was on hold for 45 minutes before they realized their mistake and only repaid me for 2 months. Nevermind the overdraft, overcharge, and insuffiecent charges they refused to give back. I think we paid them close to $600. And will never get it back. I will not do any other business with them. I am in the process of trying to close my checking and savings account with them. I let them know this and they were not the least bit interested.

Bank of America

These people have the WORST customer service ever! I was charged a $35 overdraft fee when my account went $0.06 overdrawn- even though I have overdraft protection- and when I called the 800# I was very rudely told"because of my account history I was inelegible for the overdraft protection". What the heck is that supposed to mean? I have banked with these people for 9 years an only been overdrawn twice! Where is the $250 I paid for the overdraft protection service in the first place? Try asking them cause all I keep getting is a run around! I will never recomend them to anyone again!

Why do Bank Of America place a 2 week hold on your account if your account is overdrawn for 21 days or more.First of all

boa charge you overdraft fees and extended

overdraft fees. The customer is paying the fees for their overdrawn account, why the

2 week hold on a check when it is deposited. The teller say it is because the check has to clear.I have deposited the same check for over a year it usually post the next day.I feel this rule should change because BOA is putting the customer further in debt.

customer service guy is completely 100% right. JCM makes me wonder though, if you were getting a monthly fee for an acct that was supposed to be free why did it take you 11 years to figure it out? Sounds like you weren't meeting basic requirements to keep whichever particular checking acct you had free, which isn't the bank's fault...you shouldn't have just sat there for 11 years and let it accumulate.

everyone is eligible for overdraft protection. All you need is a checking account and either a savings account (opened in the same state as the checking), credit card thru BofA, or a line of credit.

If you have one of those three options, then your accounts can be linked for overdraft protection.

Also, it doesn't cost $250 to have the serivce either. Just a $10 overdraft protection transfer fee each time its used.

I left BOA after 11 years and went to Wachovia. Haven't had a problem yet.

BOA kept charging me a $20 monthly checking account free when iwas supposed to have free checking!

$2640 in checking fees when I signed up for FREE CHECKING or so I was told. After several attempts to get this corrected I figured the best way to do this was just change banks.
